Eric Firestone, 62 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY
GAVLAK announces Flaming June, its summer pop-up exhibition at Eric Firestone Gallery in East Hampton. The group exhibition will feature historical works by Judy Chicago, whose traveling retrospective opened May 23 at the Serpentine in London; a new print by Judie Bamber, whose work will be on view this November at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; new works by Robert Peterson, whose solo exhibition will open in September at the Wichita Art Museum, Kansas; alongside marquee works by Lisa Anne Auerbach, Andrew Brischler, Nancy Lorenz, Marilyn Minter, TJ Wilcox and Rob Wynne. Additionally, the exhibition will debut new works by Indigenous Canadian artist, Renée Condo.
Sarah Gavlak, founder of GAVLAK, shares: “East Hampton has always been a special place for us, with many of our friends and trusted collectors from Palm Beach and New York spending their summers out East. This season, we hope to enrich the local arts community even further by introducing significant feminist artworks from the 1960s and 1970s, as well as new artists to the Hamptons scene. We couldn’t think of a better host than the Eric Firestone Gallery, as their program aligns with our ethos and commitment to representing underscored voices throughout art history.”
Flaming June will be on view from June 28 through July 7, 2024. Gallery hours will be daily from 10am to 6pm, and by appointment. The exhibition will kick off with an all-day open house on Saturday, June 29. Additionally, the gallery will be open all day on July 4 to welcome visitors for the holiday weekend.
